As a sylvan, one of the dryadic people of the forest, Myrthe has lived her life defending her home-grove from the fires and copper blades of the cruel humans. After a human attack burns her home to the ground, Myrthe finds herself lost, kept afloat only by the desire to recclaim her grove.  To gain the support she needs, she accepts a mission to infiltrate the last human bastion, the city of Faelow, and reclaim a lost artifact. Hiding her true self beneath a human guise, Myrthe's attempt to retrieve the artifact is ruined before it can even begin when a terrible human mage catches her and blackmails her into making a deal. They form a precarious alliance to achieve their own goals, but as Myrthe comes to learn more about the mage, she finds he is far from the monster she was raised to believe all humans were.
